Good experience with Guitar Finishing Oil

I bought some Guitar Finishing Oil the other week for a new project. It went on pretty smooth and gave a nice look to the wood, just like I hoped. The website was easy enough to use to find what I needed, which is always good. It arrived well-packaged, though the tracking updates were a bit sparse. Overall, it was a solid purchase and I'd probably buy it again when I run out.

Luthier Apron arrived quickly

Ordered a Luthier Apron. Good quality material. Arrived in 3 days. A small seam was a bit loose. Still functional. Happy with the purchase.

Solid tools, slow international shipping

I picked up a Notched Straight Edge and a set of Radius Gauges for some fretwork. The quality of the tools was great; they felt sturdy and accurate, which is what you want for luthier work. I had no issues with the products themselves. The website was easy enough to navigate to find what I needed. My main complaint was the shipping time. It took nearly two weeks to arrive in Texas, which felt a bit long, even for an international order. I understand customs can slow things down, but it's something to be aware of if you're in a hurry. Customer service was responsive when I inquired about the shipping status, which was a plus. Good value for money, just plan ahead for delivery.

Reliable source for parts

This was my third order from Crimson Guitars, and they've been consistently reliable. This time I needed some Fretwire and a few Potentiometers. Just like before, the parts were exactly as described and came well-packaged. I keep coming back because their quality is predictable, and I know what I'm getting. My first order was for a Fret Crowning File, and it's still holding up well after a lot of use. The shipping was about the same as my last order, roughly a week and a half to New York. I wish they'd offer a slightly faster, albeit more expensive, shipping option for those times when I'm in a pinch, but that's a minor point. Always a good experience.

Good tools, clear instructions

I ordered the Fret Leveling Beam and a set of Fret Polishing Rubbers. The ordering process on the website was pretty straightforward, no real hiccups there. Delivery took about 8 days to get to me in Oregon, which is decent coming from the UK, though I've had faster international shipping before. The tools themselves felt solid and well-made when they arrived. I used the leveling beam on a vintage guitar I was restoring, and it did a good job, very precise. The rubbers also worked as expected, giving a nice shine to the frets. I did have a quick question about the grit sequence for the rubbers, so I sent an email to support. They got back to me within 24 hours with a helpful answer. My only small critique is that some of the product descriptions could be a touch more detailed with usage tips, but overall I was happy with the purchase.

Got my guitar finishing oil

I grabbed some Guitar Finishing Oil for a project I was working on. The website was chill, found it no problem. Came in about a week, which was fine, didn't really need it super fast. The oil worked out well, gave the guitar a nice look. It was easy to apply too, which is always good. The bottle was a little smaller than I pictured, but it was enough for my project. Good stuff overall, no drama.

Fret Leveling Beam is amazing

I finally got around to using the Fret Leveling Beam I ordered last month, and oh my goodness, it's fantastic! My old one was so worn out. This new beam made leveling frets a breeze, really helped get things super accurate on my latest build. Shipping took about a week to get to Arizona, which was a little slow, but the product itself is worth it. I'm definitely shopping here again for more tools and will tell my guitar building friends about it!

Consistent quality for tools

This isn't my first time ordering from Crimson Guitars. I've bought several things over the past year, and this time I picked up a new Fret Crowning File and some Fret Polishing Rubbers. Just like before, the quality is really consistent. The file feels sturdy, and the rubbers work well. The prices are competitive with other places, though sometimes their shipping costs feel a little high for smaller items. That's why I tend to save up a few things for one bigger order. I keep coming back because their tools are reliable for my workshop, and I know what to expect.

Hey, thinking about grabbing some of their fret files and a leveling beam. Anyone know if they ship to the US? Specifically New York.

M Matt Smith 1 week ago
Yeah, they do. I ordered some stuff from them last year, got to Virginia pretty quick. Shipping costs were reasonable.

A Amanda Hill 1 week ago
They ship internationally, so NY shouldn't be an issue. You might just have to wait a little longer for customs, obviously.

Hey guys, thinking of grabbing one of those fret leveling beams. How long does shipping usually take to like, California?

C Carol Young 2 weeks ago
Mine got to Texas in about 8 business days last month. Came from the UK, so pretty good.

P Patricia 2 weeks ago
Yeah, I ordered some nut files and it was around a week and a half to Seattle. Customs can sometimes add a day or two but usually it's pretty smooth for tools.

black friday deals, do they usually have them for tools?

O Olivia 3 weeks ago
They almost always have Black Friday sales, especially for tools. Keep an eye out around November.

S Sean Davis 3 weeks ago
Yep, usually some good discounts on tool bundles and individual items around Black Friday. I snagged a few things last year.

Are their luthier tools generally good for someone just starting out? I'm a total beginner.

G Grace H. 1 month ago
Totally. I started with some of their basics, like the radius gauges and a fret crowning file. They have some beginner-friendly stuff and it's good quality.

Yes, they make tools for all levels, even beginners. Plus, their YouTube channel has tons of tutorials which really helps.

Quick question about the student discount, is that only for the actual guitar building courses or can I use it for tools too? Trying to stock up my new workshop.

J Jeff N. 2 weeks ago
Pretty sure it's mainly for the courses. I tried to use it for some fretwire and it didn't go through. Worth double checking though.

N Nick 2 weeks ago
Afaik, student discounts are usually for the training stuff. They do have tool bundles though, which can save you a decent chunk of change if you're buying a few things.

How long does it typically take to get a bespoke custom guitar from Crimson? I'm dreaming of one but curious about the wait.

B Brandon Flores 3 weeks ago
Oh man, a bespoke one? Those take a while. I remember reading it's like a pretty serious lead time, many months.
5
S Sean Smith 3 weeks ago
It's a custom build, so expect a significant wait. They're built by hand, so patience is key. But totally worth it, from what I've heard.

I got a coupon code from signing up for their newsletter. Will it work on one of their custom builds?

T Tim Thomas 3 weeks ago
Unlikely. Most coupon codes, especially newsletter ones, usually exclude custom builds. They're more for tools or courses.
1
E Emma 3 weeks ago
Nah, custom builds are pretty much always excluded from regular discounts. Read the fine print, but almost certain it won't apply.

I'm a student and looking at their guitar building courses. Do they offer any student discounts for those?

N Nancy Sanchez 4 weeks ago
I think I saw something about student discounts for courses on their site. Worth checking the FAQ section.

B Ben 3 weeks ago
Yes, they definitely do! My buddy got a discount on a course last summer with his student ID. Pretty sweet deal.
